A sport which is becoming increasingly popular in Scotland, is Polo. It is a game which can be played by children and adults, male and female, all together in the same team.

Thom Bell, who started playing polo himself, about seven years ago, has fantastic enthusiasm for the game and is now Scotland’s highest qualified instructor.

Governed by the HPA, Hurlingham Polo Association, Thom has qualified as a Grade 3 HPA Instructor, and holds a handicap of 0 Goal, as a player.

Anyone can learn to play polo, whether you have riding experience or not. At Thom’s home, in Kinross, he is available to take lessons all year round. These can be on an individual basis or as a team, basically whatever suits you. If you require accommodation for your visit, arrangements can be made for you locally.

Lessons start with the basics of polo, an introduction to the equipment required, all of which can be provided for your use.

Thom also has his own newly built wooden horse which is used in his lessons, before using one of his several, well trained ponies, which completes the lesson experience.

There are very few people who come along for a lesson and do not return for more!!

There are all the facilities you require to learn and progress with your game of polo. In addition to the wooden horse, there is a brand new floodlit outdoor arena, along with a smaller indoor arena. There is also use of a horse walker and several purpose built stables.

Available to those who have their own ponies, as well as horses, livery is available, which allows the use of all the described facilities. This can include transport to and from events, if required.

It is not essential to own your own pony, especially for those who are just learning. We have several ponies available for hire, to suit all abilities. These can be booked on an individual basis when required, or booked in bulk in advance, for a season for example. We are flexible and will always try to meet your needs.
