Thom Bell Horsebox Company, specialise in the construction of high quality horseboxes with capacity of 2 to 16 horses, with our without luxury living accommodation, all at very competitive prices.

We build two ranges of quality horsebox, which can be customised to your own specifications. Both are designed by experienced riders who understand what you really need. Other ‘one off’ projects are regularly undertaken, for example: 16 pony luxury polo box, with day living, on board water, dvd, cctv and groom accommodation for 3 people.

Although we build any size or style of horsebox, we specialise in polo pony transport, with emphasis on maximum number of ponies carried, with locker and tack space, rather than luxury living accommodation which carries less ponies.

Experience in building and using horseboxes points us towards MAN, Mercedes and Leyland Daf. We only buy vehicles from large commercial fleets that have been main dealer maintained, and advise the purchase of 1995(M Reg) Chassis or newer – older chassis can be very cheap to buy, but annual repair costs can be a lot higher than a new chassis. In our experience, as long as the vehicle has been correctly maintained it is better to but a newer truck rather than an older low mileage vehicle for the same price. Due to the problems associated with building a Non HGV horsebox that does not exceed 7.5 tonnes when used, we strongly advise a maximum box length of 20 feet.
